Whenever I say “turret”, it comes out as “turt”, which I feel is dangerously close to “turd”. Then I worry that people think I’m saying “turd” and I want to shout “Why would I say the word ‘turd’ in this discussion we are having about medieval castles?!” So I just try to avoid saying the word “turret” as much as possible. Oh no! Now it’s doing that thing where I’ve used the word “turret” too much and it’s starting to look weird! Like…”turd-ferret”. “Turret”.
